Mark KortenoeverSenior Partner
Born in Gouda, the Netherlands, Mark Kortenoever graduated from Leiden University in 1987 with a master’s degree in Dutch law. He was admitted to the Bar of Rotterdam (the Netherlands) in 1987 and to the Sint Maarten Bar in 1988. Mr. Kortenoever focuses on the litigation practice and advises on corporate matters with the emphasis on structured finance and project finance.
Mr. Kortenoever is ranked as the Project Finance law expert in Sint Maarten by Global Law Experts and as Project Finance member in the Dutch Caribbean by International Referral.
Apart from the law practice, Mr. Kortenoever is a member of the General Audit Chamber of Sint Maarten; a High Council of State charged with the examination of the financial and material management of the Government. He also serves as a deputy member on the Council for Disciplinary Matters.

Born in Haarlem, the Netherlands, Jeroen Veen is one of the founding members of Lexwell. He studied law at Leiden University and graduated in 1987 with a master’s degree. He was admitted to the bar in 1988 and worked as an attorney in the Netherlands, Curaçao and since 1992 on Sint Maarten. In 2017, Mr. Veen graduated from the University of Cumbria (UK) with a master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA).
With three decades of experience, Mr. Veen is an expert in all types of litigation especially cross border litigation involving corporate law, contract law, real estate and property law.
Apart from the law practice, Mr. Veen was a member of the Appellate Council for disciplinary matters, (deputy) member of the Sint Maarten Electoral Council and chairman of the board of SZV; the national health insurance and pension administrator.

Born in Dordrecht, the Netherlands, Karan Doekhi studied law in Rotterdam at the Erasmus University. He graduated in 2007 with a master’s degree and after a short period as a law teacher, Mr. Doekhi started his career as an attorney at law with a law firm in Dordrecht in 2008. In the course of 2011 Mr. Doekhi moved to a law firm in Alblasserdam, the Netherlands, where he continued his career and specialized in contract- and corporate law issues and litigation cases. In order to further specialize his contracting skills, Mr. Doekhi graduated from the Dutch Grotius Academy Course “National and International Contracting” in 2014. Mr. Doekhi also completed a “Legal English” course at the Regina Coeli language institute in the Netherlands.
Being an experienced lawyer in the Netherlands since April 2008, Mr. Doekhi moved to Sint Maarten in October 2019 to join Lexwell Attorneys at Law. At Lexwell Mr. Doekhi will be handling civil litigation matters and he will be advising clients on civil-, contract- and corporate law issues, including real estate and property law matters.
Apart from his law practice, Mr. Doekhi has been a member and for several years the chairman of the Junior Chamber International network in the Drechtsteden (the Netherlands) and he still is a member of the Round Table #140, located in Papendrecht, the Netherlands.

Born in Hilversum, the Netherlands, Femke Jansen graduated cum laude from the University of Utrecht in 2011 with a master’s degree in Dutch Private Law. In 2012, Ms. Jansen graduated from the University of Cambridge (UK) with a first class LL.M. degree. Shortly afterwards Ms. Jansen was admitted to the Bar of Utrecht (the Netherlands). She worked there over 3 years as an attorney in corporate law and commercial contracts with a top 20 law firm. Ms. Jansen joined Lexwell in 2016 and is admitted to the Bar of Sint Maarten.
Ms. Jansen practices as a litigator and adviser with a focus on commercial contracts, corporate law and labor law.
Apart from the law practice, Ms. Jansen is a board member of the Foundation for Professional Education for attorneys in Sint Maarten and an editor for a Dutch case law journal. She is also a member of Rotary Club of Sint Maarten.

Fehmi KutluerAttorney at Law
Born in Utrecht, the Netherlands, Fehmi Kutluer graduated from Utrecht University in 2009 with a master’s degree in European Law. Before coming to Sint Maarten, Mr. Kutluer gained experience at several law firms in the Netherlands, focusing on intellectual property law. He joined Lexwell in October 2011 and was admitted to the Bar of Sint Maarten the same year. After joining the Sint Maarten government sector in 2016, first at the Bureau for Intellectual Property and later at the Ministry of Justice, Mr. Kutluer returned to Lexwell in July 2019.
Mr. Kutluer practices as an all-round litigation attorney and assists prospective Sint Maarteners with their immigration papers. He also handles most of the firm’s intellectual property cases, including trademark registrations.

Born in Wageningen, the Netherlands, Sophie van Kasbergen graduated cum laude from the University of Groningen in 2012 with a master’s degree in Dutch Private Law. In 2012 Ms. van Kasbergen won the award for the most excellent student of the Faculty of Law of the University of Groningen.
In February 2013 Ms. van Kasbergen was admitted to the Bar of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She worked for 5 years as an attorney at a large Dutch law firm in Amsterdam. During the first 1.5 year of her career Ms. van Kasbergen worked at the mergers & acquisitions department. The following 3.5 years Ms. van Kasbergen worked as a litigation attorney, specialized in corporate and commercial litigation and Supreme Court cases.

Christiaan WasielaAttorney at Law
Born in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, Christiaan Wasiela graduated with distinction from the University of Tilburg in 2012 with a master’s degree in International Business Law and International and European Public Law. Mr. Wasiela graduated in 2016 from Renmin University in Beijing with a master’s degree in Chinese Law.
